The Artist’s Vision

Danielle Benoit

Inspiration

Danielle is a nature lover and has always enjoyed being in the woods or being near the water. It’s her happy place. Growing up in Miawpukek made it easy to fall in love with the outdoors; Peaceful sunsets, beautiful starry nights, and calm quiet forests to adventure through. Danielle used this connection to the land and her home town to inspire the overall design of the room. Earthy tones, greenery and rustic wooden furniture are found alongside light and airy elements bringing a feeling of calm and cozy to the space.

Through this design, she captures the feeling that one would have while being in nature-a breath of fresh air and somewhere to be present. Within the room, she subtly uses pieces that are a part of her Mi’kmaq culture, such as the eight-point star, to bring unity to the space and the overall design. The art pieces in the room are from talented Miawpukek artists Marion Green, Bailey Ball, and Michaela Benoit– giving the room a deeper connection to the land she adores the most, her hometown. Danielle hopes that guests can feel relaxed and comfortable in this space, and that the natural elements make them feel at home.

Growing up in Miawpukek made it easy to fall in love with the outdoors; Peaceful sunsets, beautiful starry nights, and calm quiet forests to adventure through.
